THE CONNAUGHT CUP
The Duke of Connaught, then Governor General of Canada, presented a trophy to the Dominion of Canada Football Association in 1913 to be presented to the national champions. This page shows the National Champions who were awarded the Connaught Cup. The first names of the players are listed where known, however, the newspapers in the years before 1940 often didn’t print first names.
In 1926, the Connaught Cup was replaced by the F.A. Trophy given to the then Dominion of Canada Football Association by the Football Association of England. This trophy became known as The FA Trophy and details on the National Champions who won this trophy can be found in National Champions: Part Two.

During 1925, the Football Association in England gave the Dominion of Canada Football Association a new trophy to replace the Connaught Cup. It became known as the Football Association Trophy and was first awarded in 1926. For a while after that, the Connaught Cup was awarded to the eastern champions, but at some point in time was stolen.
